These opportunities can provide industry certifications, college credits, advanced diplomas and much more. Allowing students to get ahead in college and/or the work force while in high school can be life changing. It is the goal of Pasco County Schools that all students access these opportunities and earn industry certifications and/or college credit to ensure they are competitive in whatever pathway they choose upon graduation.

AP courses offer students the opportunity to earn college credit and be exposed to the rigor of college level courses. Students may choose courses based on their interests and strengths therefore increasing engagement with the content.

AP Capstone™ is a diploma program from College Board that includes two yearlong AP courses: AP Seminar and AP Research in addition to other requirements. Rather than teaching subject-specific content, these courses develop students’ skills in research, analysis, evidence-based arguments, collaboration, writing, and presenting.

Dual Enrollment allows high school students the opportunity to earn college or technical credit by applying for admission as dual enrollment students. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to get ahead on their college credits as well as get experience with the rigor of college level coursework.

The Cambridge Diploma Programme offers students one of the most demanding and rigorous college preparatory programs in the world. Within the framework, AICE offers an extremely flexible curriculum which can be tailored to students’ interests, abilities, and future plans. This curriculum offers the opportunity for college credit and an AICE Diploma.

The IB Diploma Program offers a continuum of international education. The program offers students an opportunity to pursue a rigorous program of study during their high school years while focusing on the IB mission to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people. IB courses provide the opportunity to earn college credit as well as the IB Diploma.

The Early College Program (ECP) is a high school acceleration initiative that allows students to begin dual enrollment in 9th grade and progress toward earning an associate degree while completing their high school diploma. By 11th grade, students take full-time college courses through various formats including on-campus, virtual, and online options at PHSC.

A career pathway is a series of structured and aligned educational experiences designed to equip students with occupational exposure and the skill set necessary to succeed in those occupations. Targeted job industries are divided into 17 state and nationally recognized career clusters with 14 clusters represented in Pasco County Schools.

A STEM dedicated magnet school focuses on these subject areas to prepare students for college, career, and life in the 21st Century. STEM classrooms have meaningful technology integration as well as collaborative structures that allow for student engagement. Innovative STEM Dedicated Magnet High Schools are schools whose mission is to build a better tomorrow by cultivating the academic and specialized skills that prepare our students for success with a chosen pathway.
