JOB GOAL

Responsible for diagnosing student reading and mathematics strengths and deficits, planning and providing intensive tutoring using explicit, systematic and multisensory interventions, and monitoring interventions for effectiveness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Utilize diagnostic and formative assessment data in conjunction with classroom and intervention teachers to make ongoing instructional decisions.
  2. Implement evidence-based reading and mathematics tutoring services in collaboration with classroom and intervention teachers.
  3. Create, organize, and maintain a tutoring schedule to maximize time and number of students served.
  4. Provide ongoing progress monitoring and adjust tutoring services based on students’ response as part of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) process.
  5. Utilize resources that meet the needs of a diverse student population.
  6. Collaborate with teachers on a regular basis to share data and students’ response to tutoring support in order to ensure alignment of the tutoring services to core instruction.
  7. Communicate with teachers to provide detailed documentation of tutoring services and student progress.
  8. Utilize a variety of multisensory techniques to meet the needs of all learners.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge and understanding of the developmental progression of learning and multisensory techniques
  • Ability to teach key concepts in appropriate content or grade level
  • Knowledge and understanding of tiers of support and the Multi-Tiered System of Supports process
  • Possess strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
  • Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, manage and carry out duties efficiently and within established timeframes
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the field of Education or related field
  • Three years of teaching experience in appropriate content or grade level
  • OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Florida’s Educator’s Certificate
  • OR
  • Eligible for District Issued Adjunct Certificate and issued upon hire

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Reading Endorsement or Reading Certification
  • English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Endorsement
  • Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Endorsement
  • Four years or more of classroom teaching experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. If the use of arm and/or leg controls require exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated as light work.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, talk and hear; stand and walk; use hands/fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

General office equipment, including personal computers, fax machines, copiers, telephones, etc.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
