JOB GOAL

Responsible for coordinating, maintaining, monitoring, and planning fuel related operations with an emphasis on alternative fuels and fuel site regulatory compliance. Ensure safety, maintenance, operability, quality control and expedite repair actions to correct fuel site deficiencies or failures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of those in this position.
  1. Monitor Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling site operations and performance.
  2. Perform visual inspections, diagnostics, and preventative and limited maintenance on fuel storage sites and equipment.
  3. Perform required alternative fuel vehicle tank inspections and recertifications in accordance with established regulations.
  4. Prepare and maintain regulated fuel storage site records and documentation as required by federal, state and district guidelines.
  5. Respond to incidents at CNG sites when issues arise and report any unsafe conditions to management. This may require working non-standard hours.
  6. Develop and deliver employee training regarding fuel and safety procedures.
  7. Coordinate fuel site work orders and monitor vendor performed repairs.
  8. Inform management of any unsafe or hazardous conditions at fuel sites.
  9. Perform other duties as required.

 

          This position is subject to OTETA drug and alcohol testing required under the United States Department of Transportation Regulations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of CNG vehicle fueling delivery models and concepts
  • Knowledge of CNG transmission principles, quality assurance procedures, and safety practices
  • Mechanical ability and knowledge of mechanical concepts
  • Knowledge of and ability to use computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Basic math skills
  • Must be able to provide own hand tools

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma
  • 5 years of mechanical or related experience
  • OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

  • Natural Gas Vehicle Institute CNG Fueling Station Operations and Maintenance certificate or equivalent
  • CDL Class B with Passenger endorsement within 6 months of hire. Must maintain a driving record that meets the standards of the District Safe Driver II Plan. Driver license must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
  • CNG Fuel System Inspector Certification within 6 months of hire

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates Degree
  • CNG and/or conventional fuel station management
  • FLDEP above ground storage tank (AST) regulatory experience
  • Possesses valid CDL Class B with Passenger endorsement

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, talk and hear; stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
