JOB GOAL

To assist with implementing, coordinating, and supervising the PLACE childcare educational program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical/Professional Knowledge

  1. Assist in planning annual budget.
  2. Assist in the employment process and assignment of personnel.
  3. Assist site personnel with appropriate selection of childcare activities and educational materials.
  4. Assist in updating childcare policies and procedures handbook.

Communication

  1. Assist in communicating District childcare program objectives to parents and community.
  2. Meet with childcare site personnel for program updates.
  3. Communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Proactive Orientation

  1. Assist in planning and delivering staff development program.
  2. Assist in hiring childcare staff.
  3. Demonstrate initiative and a proactive orientation to recognizing and resolving issues and concerns.

Critical Thinking

  1. Assist in planning long and short-term goals.
  2. Participate in evaluating and analyzing program operations.
  3. Assist District and site-level personnel in analyzing fee structure to ensure financial stability.

Continuous Improvement

  1. Set high standards and expectations for self and others.

Facilitation

  1. Provide training to site managers in personnel and contract issues in order for them to become knowledgeable in this area.
  2. Attend local, state, and national conferences for professional growth.
  3. Encourage staff to continue training for their own personal growth.
  4. Conduct frequent review of literature relating to childcare.

Constancy of Purpose

  1. Assist in problem-solving and aiding site managers and workers.
  2. Assist with parent meetings and advisory committee functions.
  3. Use appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to guide individuals and groups toward task accomplishment.
  4. Apply problem-solving techniques to site-based problems.

Managerial

  1. Assist in supervising and evaluating assigned personnel.
  2. Assist with onsite audits for compliance with guidelines.
  3. Provide support for expenditures to comply with program expectations.

Decisiveness

  1. Make and share decisions in a timely manner.
  2. Respond immediately to emergency situations.
  3. Listen to parents and determine where a problem should be directed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of the District’s childcare educational program with the basic understanding of local and state childcare regulations.
  • Knowledge of child development.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to provide training and in-service activities for childcare personnel.
  • Skills in supervision

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of three years supervisory experience
  • Five years’ experience in childcare or related field
  • Meet all legal requirements for childcare workers in the state of Florida

Site-based Staff

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Also, this position requires the individual to be able to climb ladders to access roof areas and to navigate rough terrain on construction sites to conduct code compliance inspections.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, talk and hear; stand and walk; use hands/fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

  • General office equipment, including personal computers, fax machines, copiers, telephones, etc.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
