JOB GOAL

Responsible for the coordination, supervision, and management of the operation of the Cyesis (Teen Parent) child care centers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of those in this position.
  1. Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal licensing and regulations and Pasco County School Board policies and procedures.
  2. Establish, maintain, and provide control and safety of children.
  3. Plan, implement, and monitor enrichment activities for children to meet the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs by promoting self-expression, creativity, imaginative play, language stimulation, critical thinking skills, and positive relationship development.
  4. Communicate effectively with parents, staff, children, and schools, while maintaining confidentiality of the children and their families.
  5. Prepare and maintain accurate records, including the preparation of reports.
  6. Perform routine bookkeeping tasks.
  7. Assist in the selection and purchase of supplies, equipment, toys, books, and other materials.
  8. Assist with hiring, supervising, and evaluating Cyesis Paraprofessionals within Pasco County School Board guidelines.
  9. Oversee food preparation, distribution, and associated record keeping.
  10. Identify staff development needs, assist in staff development activities, and monitor compliance with required Department of Children and Families (DCF) courses for staff.
  11. Assist in program evaluation activities including data collection.
  12. Evaluate the growth and development of the children (Ages & Stages) and provide appropriate feedback to the Cyesis School Nurse.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations involving childcare
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding records, information, and District documents
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and facilitate groups to consensus
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
  • Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, manage, and carry out duties efficiently and within established timeframes
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) from an accredited institution
  • Three years’ experience of childcare duties

OR

  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid and current Florida Child Development Associate certificate
  • Valid and current Florida Child Care Director credentials
  • Valid and current certification of Infant/Child American Red Cross First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree from an accredited institution in the field of Child Development, or related field
  • Four years’ experience in a childcare supervisory role

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Direct supervision of assigned personnel. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; training employees; evaluating performance; and interviewing, testing, hiring, and assignment of personnel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. If the use of arm and/or leg controls require exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated as light work.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, talk, and hear; stand and walk; use hands/fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT

General office equipment, including personal computers, fax machines, copiers, telephones, etc.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
