JOB GOAL

Responsible for the extraction, coordination, analysis, and design of data by aligning work with District needs and providing support to schools, departments, and other stakeholders as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of those in this position.
  1. Identify, analyze, and interpret data trends in complex data sets.
  2. Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, and data analytics that allow stakeholders to evaluate critical operational functions.
  3. Coordinate, document, and map data transfers between systems.
  4. Receive, evaluate, and process data requests from internal and external entities while ensuring that it is presented in a manner that effectively communicates the information to both internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Analyze student, staff, and financial data for completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness in reports and data models.
  6. Blend data from multiple systems to prepare visual models for management review.
  7. Collaborate with various stakeholders and teams, including District departments, to provide insight and prepare reports.
  8. Coordinate with leadership to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and value of data.
  9. Build and analyze automated dataset dashboards to predict issues and identify bugs to resolve problems before impact is detected.
  10. Present information collected to leadership as requested.
  11. Collaborate with team members and leadership to identify process improvement opportunities, propose system modifications, and devise data collection strategies.
  12. Oversee the coordination and content of meetings and trainings to review any current, new, or updated federal, state, and local District reporting requirements and processes with all relevant stakeholders.
  13. Establish and maintain security and confidentiality protocols for all data maintained and warehoused by District.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of database design, structure, and warehousing
  • Ability to use data visualization software to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner and within established timeframes
  • Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and web-based technologies and platforms
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the field of Data Analytics, or related field
  • OR
  • Associate degree from an accredited institution in the field of Computer Science, or related field
  • Five years’ experience in data analysis
  • OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the field of Technology, or related field
  • Five years’ experience in data analysis

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Direct supervision of assigned personnel. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; training employees; evaluating performance; and interviewing, testing, hiring, and assignment of personnel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. If the use of arm and / or leg controls require exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated as Light Work.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, talk, and hear; stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
