JOB GOAL

Responsible for assisting, supporting, and providing direct supervision to group(s) of students in before and/or after school K-12 enrichment program(s), and performing other related duties necessary for the program to function efficiently.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of those in this position.
  1. Assist, support, and monitor an assigned group of students as part of the before and/or after school enrichment program.
  2. Serve as an effective role model by assisting students with lesson assignments, homework, and other activities for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts and reaching students’ academic goals and potential.
  3. Plan and implement lesson plans, enrichment activities, and instructional learning activities for students while following assigned curriculum.
  4. Perform record-keeping and clerical functions to maintain accurate records on student attendance, minor accident logs, distribution of medication, and other applicable records and reports.
  5. Adhere to regular work and activity schedules for students as outlined in established curriculum.
  6. Maintain area equipment and assist students with activities or the use of equipment as needed.
  7. Establish and maintain control and safety of an assigned group of students to ensure a safe learning environment.
  8. Aid with supervision, escorting, and movement of students in specific school settings as it relates to the before and/or after school program.
  9. Maintain required federal and state certifications by participating in workshops, meetings, and in-service training sessions as required.
  10. Follow K-12 enrichment program and District policies and procedures concerning education, health, safety, personal information, and the wellbeing of students.
  11. Open and close site in absence of site management.
  12. Perform coverage to other sites as needed.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of principles of child development and care for K-12 students
  • Must be 18 years of age or older per state statutes
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
  • Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and web-based technologies and platforms
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner and within established timeframes
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders
  • May be required to meet physical requirements of Post Offer Employment Testing (POET)

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) from an accredited institution

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

  • Satisfactory completion of American Red Cross First Aid course, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) course, or complete within thirty days of hire

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree from an accredited institution in the field of Education, or related field
  • One year of experience working with K-12 students

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

  • General office equipment, including personal computers, fax machines, copiers, telephones, etc.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
