JOB GOAL

Responsible for the review, preparation, administration, and management of contracts and legal services support. This includes assistance with the preparation of legal research, review and preparation of contracts and other legal documents and support with legal questions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of those in this position.
  1. Assist legal counsel with the preparation and review contracts/agreements and legal documents;
  2. Assist legal counsel in the preparation of contract/agreements and legal documents for presentation to the School Board, Superintendent's staff and other stakeholders;
  3. Assist legal counsel with the negotiation of contract/agreement terms;
  4. Assist legal counsel and collaborate with the purchasing department regarding contracts/agreements and other legal issues;
  5. Assist with responses to public records requests;
  6. Assist legal counsel with responding to questions regarding legal processes;
  7. Route and respond to questions regarding legal documents;
  8. Assist with summarizing investigations;
  9. Assist with preparation of documentation for Title IX investigations and responses;
  10. Maintain a detailed and up-to-date database of all contracts; and
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and web-based technologies and platforms
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, vendors, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner and within established timeframes

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • Prior experience in the preparation and administration of contracts and other legal documents
  • Associate degree from an accredited institution in the field of Paralegal studies, Business, or related field
  • Prior experience in a legal office
  • OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the field of Legal Studies, or related field

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. If the use of arm and / or leg controls require exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated as Light Work.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, talk, and hear; stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
