JOB GOAL

Responsible for monitoring student behavior during meal service. Assists with the cleanliness of the cafeteria, assists with recycling, and assists with the flow of meal service. Work is performed under the general supervision of the principal with consultation from the Food and Nutrition Services Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of those in this position.
  1. Manages students during meal service (behavior problems will be referred to the teacher or principal according to guidelines established by the individual school site).
  2. Communicates with students and school staff in a positive and professional manner utilizing appropriate customer service and interpersonal skills.
  3. Circulate throughout the cafeteria or in areas where meals are served and/or eaten assisting students who need assistance.
  4. Assists with the cleanliness of the cafeteria.
  5. Dismisses classes in an orderly manner at the scheduled time.
  6. Encourage good table manners.
  7. Participates in training sessions, meetings, and scheduled cleaning days as requested.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Functional skills in reading and writing English.
  • Knowledgeable about meal pattern requirements; understands federal, state, and local program regulations.
  • Knowledge of proper food safety and sanitation procedures for food service.
  • Mature ability to use judgement and be dependable.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
