JOB GOAL

Responsible for building capacity and providing supports for before-and-after school enrichment programs that are consistent with and supportive of the District’s vision, mission and strategic goals. This includes planning, organizing, coordinating, and monitoring the District’s fee supported child care enrichment programs, direct supervision of staff, and overseeing day-to-day operations to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of those in this position.
  1. Plan, organize, and coordinate activities of employees responsible for providing support for the District’s fee supported child care enrichment programs to assure quality services are provided to meet student and family expectations.
  2. Supervise, evaluate, train and delegate work to appropriate staff; and make recommendations for employment
  3. Collaborate with parents, administrators, district staff, and childcare professionals to establish and maintain quality before and after school programs.
  4. Collect, analyze, and interpret data for dissemination to improve the delivery of services for the District’s fee supported child care enrichment programs, and prepare reports as needed.
  5. Conduct and facilitate problem solving at meetings with individuals and groups within the childcare community.
  6. Assist with development of policies and procedures that provide technical assistance to PLACE staff that ensures implementation and compliance with all applicable laws that guide the care school age children.
  7. Participate in school advisory business and school activities, serve on committees and councils, and develop community partnerships to support the District’s vision, mission, goals and strategic priorities.
  8. Ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and policies, including federal laws, state statutes, district policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
  9. Respond quickly to emergency situations and serve as a district representative at emergency shelters as determined by the Superintendent.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Advanced knowledge of current trends, best practices, and quality standards related to the care of school age children
  • Ability to develop staff and implement quality standards in childcare enrichment programs
  • Knowledge of and ability to understand and interpret applicable policies, state statutes, and federal laws and guidelines, including Florida Statutes, School Board policy, and union agreements
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and facilitate groups to consensus
  • Ability to analyze data and use data driven decision making to facilitate effective programs
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, both orally and in writing, including familiarity with electronic media communication platforms
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, manage, and carry out duties efficiently and within established timeframes

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Elementary Education, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Five (5) years of experience with school age childcare services, elementary education, or a related field
  • Considerable experience in a supervisory role
  • OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in Business, Elementary Education, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in project management and implementation
  • Experience serving in a leadership capacity in a comparably sized organization

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Direct supervision of assigned support personnel. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; training employees; evaluating performance; and assisting with interviewing, testing, hiring, and assignment of personnel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. If the use of arm and / or leg controls require exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated as Light Work.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, talk, and hear; stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

  • General office equipment, including personal computers, fax machines, copiers, telephones, etc.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
