JOB GOAL

Responsible for providing students, faculty, and staff with the necessary support to improve technology resources in the areas of management information systems, technology services, and network and server support services. This includes meeting with stakeholder groups to determine technology needs and determine innovative and productive solutions to identified challenges while supporting the District’s vision, mission, and strategic goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of those in this position.
  1. Supervise, evaluate, train, and delegate work to appropriate staff; make recommendations for employment.
  2. Plan, organize, and coordinate the development and advancement of districtwide support systems including software, hardware, and other technology-related equipment to continually increase efficiency and effectiveness of District systems.
  3. Assist with the preparation, recommendation, and tracking of annual budgets and expenditures for Applications Support, Technology Services, and Network Services, and ensure cost effectiveness.
  4. Develop, modify, and implement quality metrics for ensuring compliance with mission, vision, strategy, and objectives.
  5. Monitor and respond to legislative changes that require modifications to District systems and implement any changes in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements.
  6. Supervise the design and development of reporting models that conform to outside agencies' needs and that ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
  7. Coordinate the extraction of data in response to requests from stakeholders in a format that allows them to make informed decisions.
  8. Recommend, coordinate, and deliver professional development activities for assigned staff to ensure current and best practices are reinforced and identified issues addressed.
  9. Implement procedures to monitor the timely replacement of hardware systems and computer software to ensure continuous improvement of technology equipment.
  10. Provide staff development opportunities by ensuring that stakeholders can maximize the use of equipment, software, and enterprise systems, especially when new or updated changes occur in technology services.
  11. Collaborate with stakeholders to determine technology needs and develop modifications which improve availability, performance, security, and productivity, and the network/system.
  12. Supervise the support and maintenance of network equipment and servers to ensure they are operating within established parameters.
  13. Implement procedures to monitor the timely replacement of hardware systems and computer software.
  14. Maintain compliance with School Board policy at all times.
  15. Maintain required certifications, participate in professional development workshops and in-service training sessions as required, attend required meetings, and keep abreast of current trends, laws, regulations, and statutes.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Extensive and advanced knowledge of current data network, data center, server infrastructure technologies, and various computer systems and platforms
  • Ability to define, implement, and integrate key information technology functions, including workflow management
  • Ability to effectively engage in the problem-solving process
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and facilitate groups to consensus
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner and within established timeframes
  • Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and web-based technologies and platforms
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders
  • All hires must submit to and pass an initial drug test and subsequent random drug tests in accordance with District requirements

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the field of Technology, Business Management, Finance, Accounting, Education, or related field
  • Three years’ experience in management of a team supporting critical business processes
  • Quality Assurance Testing experience with enterprise solutions
  • OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid and current Florida driver’s license
  • Must maintain a driving record that meets the standards of the District Safe Driver II Plan. Driver’s license must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in the field of Information Technology, Finance, or related field
  • Five years' experience in a managerial role with annual budgeting experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Analytics Professional (CAP), or Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) certification
  • Prior experience in public sector and/or public-school classification

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Direct supervision of assigned support personnel. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; training employees; evaluating performance; and interviewing, testing, hiring, and assignment of personnel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. If the use of arm and/or leg controls require exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated as Light Work.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, talk, and hear; stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT

  • General office equipment, including personal computers, fax machines, copiers, telephones, etc.
  • May need to provide own transportation to drive to various locations within the District. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
