JOB GOAL

Responsible for providing childcare for children while under the supervision of the Child Care Site Manager (Cyesis) and Nurse (Cyesis) in the District School Board of Pasco County’s Cyesis (Teen Parent) program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of those in this position.
  1. Maintain accurate records, including but not limited to, attendance records, daily notes, and developmental screening results on each assigned child.
  2. Plan and conduct activities for children to meet the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of each child, promoting self-expression, creativity, imaginative play, language stimulation, thinking skills, and positive relationship development. 
  3. Establish and maintain control and provide for the safety of assigned group of children.
  4. Assist in food preparation and distribution. 
  5. Perform childcare duties consistent with the regulations of the Department of Children and Famillies (DCF) and the Department of Health (DOH). 
  6. Participate in parent contact and communications, while maintaining confidentiality. 
  7. Collaborate with other team members to create a pleasant, inviting atmosphere and ensure optimum quality experiences for children and teen parents. 
  8. Participate in staff meetings and staff development activities, as scheduled. 
  9. Performs other duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge and understanding of curriculum planning, implementation, and resources
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
  • Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and web-based technologies and platforms
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficidnet manner and within established timeframes
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • 45 clock hours of DCF Child Development Training courses or earned within six months of employment
  • Prior experience in performing childcare duties consistent with the regulations of DCF and DOH
  • Current and valid Florida Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or earned within a year of employment

      OR

  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

  • Satisfactory completion of Infant/Child American Red Cross First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course or agreement to earn within 90 days of employment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the field of Early Childhood Development, Education, or related field 
  • Experience teaching K-3 
  • 10 hours of DCF annual professional development/workshops

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. If the use of arm and/or leg controls require exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated as light work.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT

Proper use and handling of crutches, wheelchairs, standers, and general office equipment, including personal computers, fax machines, copiers, telephones, etc.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Candidates for the Paraprofessional (Cyesis) position who do not have the required qualifications will have the opportunity to agree and sign a Condition to Earn with the following requirements:

  • Infant/Child American Red Cross First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
  • 45 clock-hours DCF Child Development Training courses
  • 10 hours of DCF annual professional development/workshops
  • Florida Child Development Associate (CDA) credential 

Failure to complete this requirement will result in non-reappointment of the employee the following school year.

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
