JOB GOAL

Responsible for building capacity and providing support for school communities that are consistent with and supportive of the District’s vision, mission, and strategic goals. This includes overseeing district, state, and federal programs for academic tutoring, professional learning services, and curriculum and instruction development while ensuring that all policies and procedures are implemented to meet federal, state, and local regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of those in this position.
  1. Coordinate areas of curriculum, assessment, and instruction to ensure quality tutoring and extended learning services are provided to meet students’ needs.
  2. Collaborate with district office staff and school administrators to establish and implement innovative academic tutoring programs including curriculum, assessment and instructional supports and resources.
  3. Collaborate and coordinate with the District Supervisor of Enriched Programs and school-based AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) coordinators and administrators to implement school-based AVID tutoring programs.
  4. Provide leadership to align tutoring program model to District core curriculum, instruction, assessment, and state standards.
  5. Collect, analyze, and interpret student achievement data and make recommendations and implement changes to maximize program resources available to schools.
  6. Provide assistance with the development of a comprehensive plan for continued program improvement including program review, development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation in K-12 instructional programs, in the assigned area(s).
  7. Assist with the preparation of staffing model recommendations, establishing budget priorities, and recommending annual budgets from various funding allocations to support programs and services relating to teaching and learning.
  8. Assist with preparation and monitoring all required reports for federal and state reporting.
  9. Recommend, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate professional development activities in the assigned area and for assigned staff.
  10. Ensure coordination among district, state, federal and competitive grants, and programs with the district’s instructional priorities and communicate and facilitate alignment with district office staff and school administrators.
  11. Provide leadership to align grant resources and implementation to district goals and state standards.
  12. Develop and monitor program implementation plan to include goals, activities, implementation measures, outcomes, and deliverables.
  13. Assist with the preparation and recommendation of annual budgets from various funding allocations to support programs and services relating to district, state, and federal programs.
  14. Provide assistance with publicizing and promoting programs through the development and distribution of written materials and presentations to school groups.
  15. Respond to inquiries or concerns in a timely manner.
  16. Develop and maintain working relationships with community agencies.
  17. Participate in school advisory, business, and community groups and activities; serve on committees and councils; and develop community partnerships to support the District’s vision, mission, goals, and strategic priorities.
  18. Serve as a district representative at emergency shelters as determined by the Superintendent and provide leadership to ensure a secure work environment during an emergency or crisis situation.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of assessment systems, current trends, and research in teaching and learning
  • Ability to read and interpret, and analyze data, journals, articles, research studies, Florida statutes, state Board rules, and school board policies, and use data-driven decision making to implement effect programs
  • Extensive knowledge of related federal, state, and local rules, regulations, statutes, and policies
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
  • Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, manage, and carry out duties efficiently and within established timeframes
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the field of Elementary Education, or related field
  • Five years of experience of classroom teaching experience
  • OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Florida Educator Certificate in Elementary Education, Exceptional Student Education (ESE) K-12, Reading, or related field
  • Valid Reading Endorsement

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field
  • Six years’ experience serving in a school environment in an instructional or administrative role
  • Training or experience in development and administration of instructional support programs including curriculum, instruction, and professional development
  • Training or experience with AVID curriculum and strategies or as an AVID teacher
  • Prior experience coaching, mentoring and/or in a supervisory role

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Direct supervision of assigned personnel. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; training employees; evaluating performance; and interviewing, testing, hiring, and assignment of personnel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. If the use of arm and/or leg controls require exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated as light work.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, talk, and hear; stand and walk; use hands/fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
