JOB GOAL

Responsible for building capacity and providing supports for school communities that are consistent with and supportive of the District’s vision, mission, and strategic goals. This includes overseeing a program in the area of responsibility, while ensuring that all policies and procedures are implemented to meet federal, state, and local regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of those in this position.
  1. Coordinate activities to ensure quality services are provided to meet students’ needs.
  2. Collaborate with District staff and school administrators to establish and implement research-based instructional and curriculum design.
  3. Provide leadership to align curriculum, assessment and instruction to district goals and state standards.
  4. Collect, analyze, and interpret data and performance measures for dissemination to improve the delivery of services.
  5. Support school administrators in identifying and implementing effective research-based strategies and assist with professional development activities aimed at improving student achievement.
  6. Assist with the development of policies and procedures and provide technical assistance to ensure implementation and compliance with federal, state, and local rules, regulations, and statutes that apply, including Board policies, in the assigned area(s).
  7. Assist with the preparation and recommendation of full-time equivalent (FTE) projections and staffing model recommendations in collaboration with school administrators to maximize FTE.
  8. Assist with the preparation and monitoring of all required reports for federal, state, and District reporting.
  9. Recommend, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate professional development activities in the assigned area and for assigned staff.
  10. Utilize data-driven decision-making to problem-solve strengths and needs to plan for supports around school-wide Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), attendance and school engagement, and needs related to school health.
  11. Foster a culture of high expectations for all students by promoting the importance of education and each student’s capacity for academic and social emotional achievements.
  12. Maintain open lines of communication with staff and parent(s)/guardian(s) regarding student progress; attend school or District meetings as required to support staff learning and continuous improvement; share information or provide training as needed.
  13. Follow District policies and procedures concerning education, health, safety, equipment, personal information, and the wellbeing of staff and students.
  14. Respond to inquiries or concerns in a timely manner.
  15. Recommend cooperative agreements, contracts, and programs with other county agencies and non-profit groups.
  16. Participate in school advisory, business, and community groups and activities; serve on committees and councils; and develop community partnerships to support the District’s vision, mission, goals and strategic priorities.
  17. Respond quickly to emergency situations and serve as a district representative at emergency shelters as determined by the Superintendent.
  18. May supervise and evaluate assigned personnel using the professional growth system.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of current trends and research in the area of assignment
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instructional techniques, as it applies to the area of assignment
  • Knowledge of related federal, state, and local rules, regulations, statutes, and policies
  • Ability to analyze data and use data-driven decision making to implement effective programs
  • Ability to read and interpret journals, articles, research studies, Florida statutes, State Board rules, and School Board policies
  • Knowledge of assessment systems, as it applies to the area of assignment
  • Ability to plan and manage projects including collaboration, coordination, and facilitation of work groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and facilitate groups to consensus
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
  • Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and web-based technologies and platforms
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner and within established timeframes
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the field of Education, or related field that aligns with area of assignment
  • Training or experience in administration of instructional, instructional support programs, or experience that aligns with area of assignment
  • Three years’ related professional experience in the area of assignment
  • OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Florida Educator Certification or licensure that aligns with the area of assignment or equivalent leadership training, licensure, or experience as required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in the field of Education, or related field that aligns with area of assignment
  • Five years’ experience serving in a school environment in an instructional or administrative role
  • Certification in Educational Leadership, School Principal, Professional School Principal, or equivalent leadership training, licensure, or experience
  • Training or experience in administration of instructional or instructional support programs
  • Prior experience coaching, mentoring, and/or in a supervisory role

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Direct supervision of assigned personnel. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; training employees; evaluating performance; and interviewing, hiring, and assignment of personnel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. If the use of arm and / or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated as Light Work.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, talk, and hear; stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
