JOB GOAL

Responsible for managing, planning, and coordinating activities of special projects in support of strategic initiatives and District-specific requirements. This includes ensuring compliance with all related rules, regulations, and policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of those in this position.
  1. Serve as project manager and lead the design, planning, implementation, and monitoring of special projects in support of strategic initiatives and/or needs of specific departments or reporting areas.
  2. Develop, implement, and monitor plans, goals, and objectives for special projects focused on achieving the District’s mission and Board priorities.
  3. Collect and analyze related data by conducting field investigations, surveys, demographic studies, or other appropriate research to gather required information.
  4. Research proposed programs and intended program outcomes and make recommendations to senior management regarding strategic plans and directions.
  5. Coordinate and ensure mandates and other requirements are prepared and disseminated as warranted; distribute project deliverables on time, within budget and at the required level of quality; evaluate project outcomes as established in the project plan.
  6. Oversee and monitor metrics of assigned projects to ensure successful and coordinated completion.
  7. Keep appropriate staff and stakeholders aware of project status and ensure effective communication channels are utilized appropriately.
  8. Oversee the work of staff and stakeholders as related to assigned projects as appropriate and directed.
  9. Maintain project documentation, including project plans, status reports, budgets and expenses, and other documentation as required.
  10. Keep apprised of existing and new federal and state laws, regulations, and statutes and recommend appropriate changes or additions to ensure District policies and procedures are in compliance.
  11. Respond quickly to emergency situations and serve as a district representative at emergency shelters as determined by the Superintendent.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to understand and interpret school board policies and federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to understand and use a variety of systems to analyze data and make data-driven decisions
  • Ability to interpret complex data and communicate findings to superintendent’s staff
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner and within established timeframes
  • Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and web-based technologies and platforms
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the field of Education, Business, or related field
  • Five years’ experience in project management or administration in appropriate field of operations
  • OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in the field of Educational Leadership, or related field
  • Five years’ experience in project management or administration in an educational environment
  • Expertise in data analysis

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Varies based on assignment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
