JOB GOAL

Responsible for managing instructional resources and ensuring their access to teachers in order to impact teaching and learning. This includes collaborating with school staff to provide requested resources as well as monitoring the daily operations of the media center/collaboration center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of those in this position.
  1. Provide support to students and teachers in locating and using instructional resources such as library books, magazines, audio-visual and video materials, computerized information databases, digital-based learning programs, and related media/technology equipment.
  2. Circulate school and district media center and other interlibrary loan (ILL) materials and equipment to students and teachers utilizing appropriate database systems.
  3. Maintain inventory records of all instructional materials including, but not limited to, textbooks, laptops, iPads and other digital devices.
  4. Communicate instructional and/or technical resource needs including, but not limited to, website subscriptions, periodicals, audio-visual materials, library books, applications, hardware to instructional coaches and administrative staff for purchase consideration.
  5. Refer requests for instructional assistance to the instructional coach or other instructional staff as appropriate.
  6. Coordinate with hardware and software support technicians to provide technical support in schools.
  7. Provide periodic preventative maintenance of technology equipment and related systems.
  8. Maintain an inventory of replacement parts, tools, and other services related equipment.
  9. Diagnose and provide minor repairs to technology equipment and related systems, including audiovisual, television, computer hardware and software.
  10. Provide supervision, training, and support as needed within the school media center, including adult and student volunteer assistants.
  11. Attend technical workshops and service institutes as required.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Florida driver license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. If the use of arm and / or leg controls require exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated as Light Work.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, talk and hear; stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

Noise: The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT

  • General office equipment, including personal computers, fax machines, copiers, telephones, etc. 
  • General electronic diagnostic tools, and hand tools such as precision screwdrivers, pliers, etc. 
  • May be required to provide own transportation to district school sites.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
