JOB GOAL

Under general supervision, responsible for performing specialized, complex duties related to the administration of the District’s retirement plans. This includes assisting employees regarding available retirement options, including 403(b) voluntary retirement plans, retiree group health plans, and retirement plans available through the Florida Retirement System (FRS).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of those in this position.
  1. Act as a liaison between FRS and the District to assist employees and retirees regarding retirement services.
  2. Prepare retirement services communications and educational materials for employees and retirees.
  3. Determine retirement eligibility and guide employees through the retirement process.
  4. Provide retirement counseling one-on-one and/or facilitate group sessions.
  5. Respond to participants’ inquiries and coordinate with outside agencies to provide information as necessary.
  6. Accurately set up, maintain, and audit retiree benefit and retirement plan records, and maintain related system information as necessary to ensure proper administration of retirement plans and retiree health benefits.
  7. Assist with resolution of benefit or retirement plan related issues.
  8. Provide input and assist with creation, modification, and implementation of retirement services processes to improve department efficiency and better serve stakeholder needs.
  9. Coordinate the workflow and procedures between retirement services and other departments, including their party administrators.
  10. Maintain confidentiality regarding employee records, vendor information, District documents, and all other documentation as required.
  11. Provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Substantial Knowledge of state, 403(b) retirement plans, and retirement services
  • Basic Knowledge of Medicare and Social Security programs
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal policies, procedures, and regulations to maintain compliance
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and facilitate groups to consensus
  • Ability to effectively engage in the problem-solving process
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner and within established timeframes
  • Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and web-based technologies and platforms
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • Associate degree from an accredited institution in the field of Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field
  • Two years’ experience in the field of retirement services or human resources
  • OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the field of Business, Human Resources, or related field
  • Three years' experience in the field of retirement services

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, talk, and hear; stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

Travel: May include working recruitment events/conducting trainings and adjusting daily work hours to attend these events as directed.

  • General office equipment, including personal computers, fax machines, copiers, telephones, etc. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
