JOB GOAL

Responsible for managing, building capacity, and providing supports for before and after school enrichment programs that are consistent with and supportive of the District’s vision, mission, and strategic goals. This includes planning, organizing, coordinating, and monitoring the program, supervising staff, and overseeing day-to-day operations to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of those in this position.
  1. Assist with directing, planning, organizing, and coordinating, through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities of employees responsible for providing support for the District’s fee-supported before and after school enrichment programs to ensure quality services are provided to meet student and family expectations.
  2. Provide direction to and supervise assigned personnel, conduct annual performance appraisals, and make recommendations for appropriate employment actions.
  3. Assist with development of departmental policies and procedures, revising procedures as needed to increase efficiency of the department’s services.
  4. Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained, updated, and kept confidential.
  5. Manage and oversee the payroll function for department employees including time sheets, extra duty assignments, overtime, and other related activities.
  6. Collaborate with parents/guardians, other administrators, District staff, and enrichment program professionals to establish and maintain quality before and after school programs.
  7. Collect, analyze, and interpret data for dissemination to improve the delivery of services for the programs and prepare reports as needed.
  8. Conduct and facilitate problem-solving at meetings with individuals and groups.
  9. Assist with development of policies and procedures that provide technical assistance to ASEP staff as needed.
  10. Participate in school advisory business and school activities, serve on committees and councils, and develop community partnerships to support the District’s vision, mission, goals and strategic priorities.
  11. Ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and policies, including federal laws, state statutes, District policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
  12. Assist with the development of budgets for the department and applicable programs.
  13. Attend training sessions, conferences, and workshops to keep up to date on best practices to ensure the department meets standards and requirements.
  14. Serve as a District representative at emergency shelters as determined by the Superintendent and provide leadership to ensure a secure work environment during an emergency or crisis situation.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Extensive knowledge of current trends, best practices, and quality standards related to the care of school-aged children
  • Ability to develop staff and implement quality standards in before and after school enrichment programs
  • Extensive knowledge of related federal, state, and local rules, regulations, statutes, and policies
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
  • Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and web-based technologies and platforms
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner and within established timeframes
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and facilitate groups to consensus
  • Ability to effectively engage in the problem-solving process

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the field of Business, Elementary Education, or related field
  • Five years’ experience in school-aged childcare services, elementary education, or related field
  • Three years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

  • None

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in the field of Business, Elementary Education, or related field
  • Seven years’ experience in school-aged childcare services, elementary education, or related field
  • Five years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Three years’ experience in project management and implementation
  • Three years’ experience serving in a leadership capacity in a comparably sized organization

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Direct supervision of assigned personnel. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; training employees; evaluating performance; and interviewing, testing, hiring, and assignment of personnel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. If the use of arm and / or leg controls require exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated as Light Work.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, talk, and hear; stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
