JOB GOAL

Responsible for management of technology and information systems functions with a focus on management information systems, technology services, and/or network and server support services. This includes overseeing the District’s enterprise systems, technology equipment, and network and server applications, while ensuring that all policies and procedures are implemented to meet federal, state and local regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Management Information Systems

  1. Assist with directing and coordinate through subordinate supervisory personnel, all areas of management information systems to ensure quality services are provided to meet staff and student needs.
  2. Provide direction to and supervise assigned personnel, conduct annual performance appraisals, and make recommendations for appropriate employment actions.
  3. Monitor performance of enterprise systems for speed, accessibility, and performance and recommend changes and adjustments to improve system function.
  4. Ensure enterprise systems connect, communicate and share data effectively.
  5. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure technology needs and efficiencies are being met.
  6. Collect, analyze, and interpret data to maximize the effective use of enterprise systems.
  7. Monitor and review technology and information services trends and best practices to ensure compliance with system needs and local, state, and federal regulations.
  8. Assist with the development of budgets for the Management Information Systems team.
  9. Analyze and review district-wide system needs and develop new modules and enhancements to address deficiencies.
  10. Develop protocols to assist schools and departments with troubleshooting and other end user issues.
  11. Respond quickly to and support the Emergency Operations Center during natural disasters and other emergencies.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Technology Services

  1. Assisting with directing and coordinate through subordinate supervisory personnel, all areas of technology services to ensure quality services are provided to meet staff and student needs.    
  2. Provide direction to and supervise assigned personnel, conduct annual performance appraisals, and make recommendations for appropriate employment actions.
  3. Create, modify and maintain a system of technology support that enhances student and staff experiences.
  4. Administer the District device purchasing or leasing model to continually improve the technology resources at all levels.
  5. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure technology needs and efficiencies are being met.
  6. Collect, analyze, and interpret data to maximize the effective use of enterprise systems.
  7. Monitor and review technology and information services trends and best practices to ensure compliance with system needs and local, state, and federal regulations.
  8. Assist with the development of budgets for the Technology Services team.
  9. Analyze and review district-wide system needs and develop new modules and enhancements to address deficiencies.
  10. Develop protocols to assist schools and departments with troubleshooting and other end user issues.
  11. Respond quickly to and support the Emergency Operations Center during natural disasters and other emergencies.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Network and Server Support Specialist

  1. Assist with directing and coordinate through subordinate supervisory personnel, all areas of network and server support services to ensure quality services are provided to meet staff and student needs.
  2. Provide direction to and supervise assigned personnel, conduct annual performance appraisals, and make recommendations for appropriate employment actions.
  3. Monitor network trends and evaluate options for network design adjustments and enhancements.
  4. Evaluate threat risk and recommend tools and solutions to protect District resources.
  5. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure technology needs and efficiencies are being met.
  6. Collect, analyze, and interpret data to maximize the effective use of enterprise systems.
  7. Monitor and review technology and information services trends and best practices to ensure compliance with system needs and local, state, and federal regulations.
  8. Assist with the development of budgets for the Network and Server Support team.
  9. Analyze and review district-wide system needs and develop new modules and enhancements to address deficiencies.
  10. Develop protocols to assist schools and departments with troubleshooting and other end user issues.
  11. Respond quickly to and support the Emergency Operations Center during natural disasters and other emergencies.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of general technology trends and computer system operations
  • Broad knowledge of various computer systems and software specific to assigned area
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, manage and carry out duties efficiently and within established timeframes
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in technology or related field
  • Five years progressively responsible experience in technology or related field
  • Previous supervisory experience.

  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in technology or related field

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Direct supervision of assigned personnel. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; training employees; evaluating performance; and interviewing, testing, hiring, and assignment of personnel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. If the use of arm and/or leg controls require exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated as light work.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, talk and hear; stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

  • General office equipment, including personal computers, fax machines, copiers, telephones, etc.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
