JOB GOAL

Responsible for assisting in all aspects of support, development, and distribution of communication, District initiatives, and activities utilizing print and electronic media platforms.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of those in this position.
  1. Assemble, write, and edit information for release to the public and media concerning issues related to the District for written newsletters, press releases, memoranda, articles, and other related print and electronic media platforms.
  2. Lead marketing activities for school choice and educational option programs, and track results of these initiatives.
  3. Research, plan, and create valuable, educational, relatable, consistent, and shareable content that positively represents the District and attracts and maintains the target audience including, but not limited to, blog posts, news stories, videos, and photos, and distribute content on the appropriate platforms.
  4. Assist with managing content for the District’s various social media sites and related communication platforms to share relevant information aimed at highlighting students, staff, and District accomplishments.
  5. Develop, lead, and carry out marketing campaigns and activities for various District programs.
  6. Collaborate and coordinate with various departments and schools to develop and improve the marketing activities of the District and to ensure effective and relevant communication efforts.
  7. Create and participate in community events and activities to help foster a positive relationship between the District and organizations, companies, and communities.
  8. Conduct assessments of the District’s communication and marketing programs and recommend changes when needed.
  9. Establish goals and objectives in order to reach communities throughout the District through appropriate marketing channels.
  10. Analyze and track marketing data and results of marketing activities and campaigns by demonstrating expertise in various areas, including optimization, advertising, social media, and direct marketing.
  11. Collaborate with external agencies and vendors as required to execute marketing programs.
  12. Create reports as assigned to track data and progress.
  13. Assist in the day-to-day operations and activities of the department.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of current trends in communication, marketing, and social media, with a command of each network and their best practices
  • Knowledge of content strategies such as Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
  • Ability to successfully develop and manage content and use data to analyze results
  • Ability to shoot and edit video
  • Knowledge of related federal, state, and local rules, regulations, statutes, and policies governing communication and social media
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner and within established timeframes
  • Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and web-based technologies and platforms
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively engage in the problem-solving process
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and facilitate groups to consensus

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the field of Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field
  • Three years’ experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or journalism
  • OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.

  • None

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in the field of Strategic Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field
  • Five years' experience in marketing programs, communications, or public relations, preferably in an education-related industry

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. If the use of arm and / or leg controls require exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated as Light Work.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, talk, and hear; stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
