JOB GOAL

Responsible for providing high-level technical support for the repair and maintenance of technology equipment and related systems while coordinating, planning, and scheduling day-to-day operations of technology services activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of those in this position.
  1. Provide direction to and supervise assigned personnel, conduct annual performance evaluations, and make recommendations for appropriate employment actions.
  2. Review service requests on a daily basis to determine job priorities, assign appropriate personnel to address issues related to technology services, and ensure a high-level of service to stakeholders.
  3. Oversee and coordinate weekly job-related coaching and monthly meetings with administrators and school-based staff.
  4. Administer and complete detailed action reports documenting weekly and monthly meetings.
  5. Assist in the hiring process of Technology Services Technicians and other applicable staff.
  6. Manage skilled technicians tasked with the maintenance, installation, and repair of systems.
  7. Provide guidance, technical assistance, and training to personnel at work sites.
  8. Assist in maintaining accurate records for service, including parts, supplies, materials, and time used in the repair and preventative maintenance of technology equipment and related systems.
  9. Maintain and track inventory of replacement parts, tools, and other related equipment.
  10. Deliver monthly and annual statistical reports on repairs performed by the department for internal and vendor use.
  11. Assist in monitoring completed work by initiating quality control checks to ensure that department standards are met.
  12. Repair and provide preventative maintenance of technology equipment and related systems to ensure efficient operations and limit downtime.
  13. Maintain compliance with School Board policy at all times.
  14. Maintain required certifications, participate in professional development workshops and in-service training sessions as required, attend required meetings, and keep abreast of current trends, laws, regulations, and statutes.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Proficiency in hardware/software support, troubleshooting, and repair of multiple platforms

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media

  • Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and web-based technologies and platforms
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders
  • All hires must submit to and pass an initial drug test and subsequent random drug tests in accordance with District requirements

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) from an accredited institution
  • Three years' experience in technology-related services
  • OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Florida Driver's License
  • Must maintain a driving record that meets the standards of the District Safe Driver Plan. Driver’s License must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the field of Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • Five years’ experience in technology-related services
  • Valid and current CompTIA A+ Certification
  • Valid and current Computer Manufacturer Services Certification

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Direct supervision of assigned personnel. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; training employees; evaluating performance; and interviewing, testing, hiring, and assignment of personnel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

Cold: The worker is subject to extreme cold.  Temperatures are below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour.

Heat: The worker is subject to extreme heat.  Temperatures are above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour.

Noise: The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout to be heard above the ambient noise level.

Hazards: The worker is subject to risks. This includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, and exposure to high heat or chemicals.

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT

  • General electronic diagnostic tools and hand tools including, but not limited to, precision screwdrivers and pliers
  • General office equipment, including personal computers, fax machines, copiers, telephones, etc.
  • Must be able to drive a District vehicle OR may need to provide own transportation to drive to various locations within the District.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
