JOB GOAL

Responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of information systems, hardware, software, and applications of technology equipment and related systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of those in this position.
  1. Provide technical support to staff and students for hardware and software issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  2. Provide districtwide repair of computer hardware technology equipment and related systems including, but not limited to, audiovisual and television equipment.
  3. Conduct regularly scheduled preventative maintenance of technology equipment and related systems, ensuring that all actions are documented according to District standards.
  4. Maintain detailed and accurate records of parts, supplies, materials, and personnel time used to repair and provide preventative maintenance services on technology equipment and related systems to ensure compliance with vendor and District standards.
  5. Conduct continuous maintenance of current inventory of replacement parts, tools, and other technology services-related equipment.
  6. Install, update, upgrade, configure, and troubleshoot hardware and software on all District technology equipment.
  7. Schedule site visits to perform minor maintenance on computers and printers.
  8. Diagnose, track, and troubleshoot hardware and software problems through diagnostic testing while initiating problem-solving methods when necessary.
  9. Assist with large-scale implementation of new technologies.
  10. Collaborate with other information technology (IT) professionals to develop and implement technology solutions.
  11. Assist in the setup and maintenance of computer labs and classrooms.
  12. Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and resolve them promptly.
  13. Manage software licenses and ensure compliance with licensing agreements.
  14. Assist in the development of technology policies and procedures.
  15. Evaluate and recommend hardware and software upgrades.
  16. Maintain compliance with School Board policy at all times.
  17. Maintain required certifications, participate in professional development workshops and in-service training sessions as required, attend required meetings, and keep abreast of current trends, laws, regulations, and statutes.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficiency in computer/electronic device hardware and software
  • Knowledge of Windows, Mac, and iOS software and applications
  • Ability to work as a team to accomplish shared goals and objectives
  • Ability to effectively engage in the problem-solving process
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner and within established timeframes
  • Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and web-based technologies and platforms
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders
  • All hires must submit to and pass an initial drug test and subsequent random drug tests in accordance with District requirements

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree from an accredited institution
  • One year of experience in technology equipment repair or troubleshooting
  • OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid and current Florida driver’s license
  • Must maintain a driving record that meets the standards of the District Safe Driver II Plan. Driver’s license must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree from an accredited institution in the field of Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • Advanced training in electronic services for technology equipment and systems
  • Satisfactory completion of a technical training program in electronic equipment repair
  • Two years’ experience in technology equipment repair or troubleshooting
  • Two years’ experience troubleshooting Mac OS, Windows OS, and iOS
  • Training/certifications in Apple/Windows systems and applications, networking, and equipment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, talk, and hear; stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

Cold: The worker is subject to extreme cold. Temperatures are below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour.

Heat: The worker is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures are above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour.

Noise: The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.

Hazards: The worker is subject to hazards. This includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places and exposure to high heat or chemicals.

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT

  • General electronic diagnostic tools and hand tools including, but not limited to, precision screwdrivers and pliers
  • General office equipment, including personal computers, fax machines, copiers, telephones, etc.
  • May need to provide own transportation to drive to various locations within the District.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
