UPDATE: SHELTER INFORMATION
PascoCounty is opening hurricane shelters for anyone who needs to leave their home ahead of Tropical Storm Helene and has nowhere else to stay. All shelters are accepting family pets.
The following shelters will open Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 4 p.m.:
- Centennial Middle School, 38505 Centennial Road, Dade City
- Fivay High School, 12115 Chicago Avenue, Hudson
- Wiregrass Ranch High School, 2909 Mansfield Boulevard, Wesley Chapel (Special Needs & General Population)
- River Ridge Middle and High Schools, 11646 Town Center Road, New Port Richey
- Sunlake High School, 3023 Sunlake Boulevard, Land O’ Lakes
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We want to inform you about important updates due to the upcoming storm expected to impact our county on Thursday. Pasco County Emergency Management has requested that we open five schools as emergency shelters. We encourage families and employees to take the necessary precautions based on their specific circumstances and recognize that individuals may need to make their own choices regarding safety and preparedness. Here are the details regarding school closures and activities:
Wednesday, September 25, 2024:
- Schools will open as scheduled.
- All after-school activities and events are canceled to prepare for the storm and shelter setup.
- ASEP/PLACE programs will continue as usual.
Thursday, September 26, AND Friday, September 27, 2024:
- All district offices and schools will be closed.
- This includes the cancellation of all after-school programs, ASEP, and PLACE.
Additional Instructions for Staff:
- Specific instructions for staff regarding shelter operations and storm preparations will be communicated separately.
