Pasco Student Triumphs at National SkillsUSA Championships!

Pasco County Schools is thrilled to announce that Arwen Arriaga, a talented student from Fred K. Marchman Technical College, has secured first place in the high school cosmetology competition at the prestigious National SkillsUSA Championships, recently held in Atlanta. This remarkable achievement highlights our students' and educators' exceptional skills and dedication in preparing the next generation of industry leaders.

Arwen's victory in the cosmetology category, which featured rigorous assessments of her technical skills and creative flair, is a testament to her hard work and the high standards upheld by Marchman Technical College.

The SkillsUSA Championships is renowned for being one of the largest hands-on workforce development events globally, with over 6,000 state champions competing in 115 skilled and leadership contests.

Pasco County Schools will host an interview opportunity on July 16, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Marchman Technical College to celebrate this outstanding accomplishment. Media representatives are invited to attend and interview Arwen Arriaga, who will share her experiences and insights from the competition. This event will also provide an opportunity to learn more about the programs and support systems that contributed to her success.

The SkillsUSA Championships, held annually in conjunction with the National Leadership & Skills Conference, celebrate the nation's best career and technical education students. The competition aims to reward student excellence, involve industry in evaluating performance, and ensure that training remains relevant to employers' needs.
