Assistant Principal Induction Year 2

Target Audience

The Assistant Principal Induction Year 2 Program is designed for second year assistant principals. During the second year, leaders attend four of these workshops covering both technical and adaptive leadership skills which are aligned to the Florida Education Leadership Standards.

Student Learning and Continuous Improvement Using Data

For second-year Assistant Principals, the professional development course offers a comprehensive exploration of key topics crucial to their role in enhancing student learning and school effectiveness. In the session focused on "Student Learning & Continuous Improvement Using Data," participants delve into the intricacies of data-informed decision-making, learning to analyze student data to inform instructional practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Building on this foundation, assistant principals develop actionable plans aligned with school objectives and instructional priorities, fostering a culture of data-driven excellence within their educational community.

Effectively Leading Your Three Teams (SIT, SLT, PLCs)

In "Leading the Three Teams," assistant principals explore the dynamics of collaborative leadership, understanding how to effectively lead instructional, operational, monitoring, and staff teams to achieve shared goals. Through discussions and practical exercises, participants hone their skills in team development and empowerment, fostering positive and inclusive environments that promote professional growth and collective efficacy among team members.

Monitoring Your Learning Environment

The course also addresses the importance of creating a conducive learning environment through "Learning Environment with Learning Walks." Assistant principals learn to conduct purposeful learning walks, gaining insights into assessing instructional practices and providing targeted feedback to support teacher growth and student achievement. By facilitating effective learning walks and fostering a culture of reflective practice, participants cultivate environments conducive to continuous improvement and innovation. School leaders learn about assessment tools to gather input on their cohesion and practices to plan forward with their three teams.

Instructional Materials and Enriched Programs

This session is dedicated to "Instructional Materials and Enriched Programs," assistant principals explore strategies for curriculum alignment, resource management, and support for enriched programs. Through collaborative discussions and practical applications, participants learn to align instructional materials with curriculum standards, differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs, and effectively support teachers in implementing enriched programs. By mastering these skills, assistant principals enhance their capacity to drive instructional excellence and foster a culture of academic achievement and enrichment within their school communities.
