Annual Instructional Materials Adoption Process

Phase 1

Setting the Criteria for High Quality Materials

Administer Perception Survey
Develop Instructional Materials Evaluation Tool (IMET)
Finalize Vendor Call criteria

Phase 2

Narrowing the Choices

Narrowing Team- Instructional leaders collaborate to identify materials that align to criteria in Vendor Call
Content Knowledge- Senior Content Specialist educate narrowing team on the connection between the curriculum and the standards
Dig deep into the resources using the IMET tool

Phase 3

Gathering Stakeholder Input

Senior Content Specialist develop "Try and Apply" lessons for school content teams
District staff hosts Vendor Nights where publishers demonstrate effective use of resources in lesson planning and instruction
Instructional materials are posted on website for families and community members to access
District hosts Family and Community Events
Parents, guardians, and community members are invited to an informational session that reviews the standards and what students will be learning
Parents, guardians, and community members can review the resources and ask questions to publishers
Parent and School feedback on materials is collected and reviewed

K-12 Science Instructional Materials Adoption

The Pasco School District is participating in an adoption of science curriculum aligned to Florida’s State Academic Standards for Science. The Office of Leading & Learning is actively working with our district department partners, teachers, school leaders, and will engage the community to complete the process. The courses below were submitted for vendor solicitation and the resources have been narrowed if resources were submitted for review. We want to ensure that the community and parents have the opportunity to provide input on the resources prior to the final recommendation being made to the School Board. Login information will be available below, after December 2nd, for each resource. Additionally, below is the Instructional Materials Evaluation Tool (IMET) rubric that is used by schools when reviewing the resource as well as a form that can be completed by parents and community members by February 19, 2025.

Instructional Materials Adoption Committee Meetings

Science Adoption

Pasco County Schools is conducting an instructional materials adoption for K-12 science in the 2024-2025 school year for implementation in the 2025-2026 school year. Meetings of committees/teams convened for the purpose of reviewing, narrowing, or selecting instructional materials for recommendation to the district school board must be noticed and open to the public.

We would like to invite parents to be part of the Narrowing Team which serves to review and narrow the materials submitted by publishers during the adoption process. To submit your interest for an opportunity to serve on the narrowing team, please complete this form. There is an 8-10 evening commitment for this work, dates are below. The deadline to submit your interest is September 20th, 2024. Parents/guardians selected through the randomized screening process will be notified by October 7th via email.
