Our Gifted Program Team

Pasco County Schools is committed to providing a world class education for all students and we are very proud of the services gifted teachers provide for students each day. Three models are utilized to best serve the needs of our gifted population. Our team is here to support your gifted learner. They ensure our gifted students and families have access to a world-class education through promoting gifted awareness by supporting gifted identification, educating all stake-holders on the needs of gifted students, providing advocacy for rigorous coursework and resiliency support for the gifted, and seeking opportunities and supports for gifted students and families.

Gifted Support Models

Consult Elementary:

The teacher of gifted provides the basic education teacher with strategies and techniques for addressing the gifted student’s needs within a basic education classroom. The teacher of gifted does not directly serve the student. Quarterly Reports are completed by the gifted endorsed teacher. Consultation Logs and Quarterly Reports are placed in the EP folder at the end of each school year.

Consult High School:

The teacher of gifted participates in school-based parent/team meetings to provide insight from the gifted perspective into next steps for support.

Gifted services are provided in the basic education classroom by a teacher who has additional certification or endorsement in the area of gifted education. The classroom is comprised of students who have been identified as gifted as well as students who are nongifted. Quarterly Reports prepared by the teacher are sent home once per quarter to report student progress towards EP goals. A cumulative Quarterly Report is to be placed in the student's gifted folder at the end of each school year.

A gifted certified or endorsed instructs gifted students within a classroom setting that has been designated as gifted. This environment is made up exclusively of gifted eligible students. Families in a broad boundary area determined by zoned schools can elect to have the student attend the CGS at any point during that curriculum level.  Quarterly Reports are sent home once per quarter to report student progress towards EP goals. A cumulative Quarterly Report is to be placed in the EP folder at the end of each school year.  Click here to learn more about our Center for Gifted Studies.
