Leaders Mentoring New Leaders

Target Audience

Current Assistant Principals

General Description

In Pasco County we are committed to attracting, supporting, and mentoring new leaders by providing self-development in high quality professional growth opportunities and mentoring. Mentor leaders work to ensure they collaborate, support, and coach new leaders to develop them as professionals, and ultimately impact student achievement.

This 3-session course is designed to prepare veteran Assistant Principals to support new Assistant Principals during their first year as a school leader.

Participants will deepen their understanding of the role of the mentor, understanding the importance of having and developing a growth mindset, thinking strategically about a strengths-based coaching approach, and building the necessary relationships to establish trust. In addition, leaders will deepen their understanding of the Florida Leadership standards and how to align critical feedback to the needs of the mentee and the standards.

Mentors will be provided the tools and resources needed to prepare for and support their mentees through regular communication, including on-site support.
