Scholarship:

I believe in doing well academically--or at least attempting to do well. This is a concept that has not been easy as I was diagnosed with ADHD at a young age, which interfered with focus and organization. Yet, with the help of others including teachers and my guidance counselor, I continue to do well. They encouraged me to take challenging courses such as AP and AICE, and I have managed to maintain honor roll.

Leadership:

I had the honor of being chosen as a captain of my varsity football and soccer teams. This allowed me to develop special connections with my teammates and coaches. As a captain, much of my leadership efforts focused on setting examples of committing to practice, showing respect on the field, and being a good student athlete.  I am also a member of Positive Coaching Alliance and Kappa League, which both focus on academics and leadership.

Service:

I have been volunteering with H.E.L.P. Ministries for the past three summers. My responsibilities include picking up donated food items from local grocery stores, along with unloading those items to prepare for distribution at the HELP Ministries’ food pantry. Each distribution provides food to more than 300 families, which I find rewarding.

Citizenship:

As someone who is adopted, I feel that it is important to be a part of something, whether it’s my school, church, athletics, or my community. These connections bring a sense of pride and an eagerness to work together. It also leaves me with a willingness to welcome and connect with others.
