J. W. Mitchell High School

Scholarship:

Bebel has been awarded AP Scholar with Distinction and has taken nine AP courses and six DE courses. She is ranked tenth in her class and will graduate with Summa Cum Laude Honors.

Leadership:

Bebel's first leadership role at Mitchell was serving as the Class of 2022 President, which she continued through to her junior year. In addition, she has been a member of the SAC committee since freshman year, where she represents the student body in monthly meetings with the administration and the community. As she has strengthened her leadership skills, she began to search for additional leadership roles. After being a member of various clubs since ninth grade, she was elected SADD Vice President and to the executive board of social inclusion in her junior year. Finally entering her senior year, she was elected president of the executive board of student council and National Honor Society, where she collaborates with students and staff to organize student activities, school fundraisers, and community outreach.

Service:

Bebel has over 100 hours of community service logged with various organizations in our community. In Bebel's words, "I have been lucky to have a wide variety of community service opportunities. Some of my most memorable acts of service are during my time at the Metropolitan Ministries. Countless shifts of working with Mr. John at the food bank, organizing the thrift store with Mrs. Diane, and serving foods to families who quickly became friendly faces is why I never saw my time there as an obligation. In fact, it continues to be some of the most pleasant parts of my week."

Citizenship:

Bebel is a kind and considerate student. She is regularly seen eating lunch with ESE students. In Bebel's words, "I have always been a cheerleader for Mitchell—definitely in a figurative way—because I cannot even touch my toes. What I mean, is I have always cheered on my peers, faculty, and the culture of Mitchell to thrive. This can be seen through the dedication I have to my leadership positions, the respect I have for my teachers, and the way I lost my voice after yelling "let's hear it for the..." about 50 times during homecoming week. I try to lead by example when picking up trash at football games, or checking in with new students with the intention of continuing a school culture that promotes collaboration, honesty, and respect. I'm a responsible citizen on campus because this school has done so much for me. In all seriousness, being Mitchell's un-flexible cheerleader is the least I can do to give back to my school."
