Maria has excelled in many AP/DE classes including AP human geography, psychology, world history, language & composition, literature & composition, environmental science, U.S. history, and AP biology. She has received the English Student of the Year award for AP English language, and for AP U.S history and AP psychology she received the Social Studies Student of the Year award. Maria's senior course schedule includes AP chemistry, calculus, statistics, and dual enrollment courses.
Maria clearly leads by example. She serves in a variety of leadership positions including captain of the basketball team. As a volunteer for HCA Hospital, she has been promoted to the STAT team where she trains new volunteers. Lastly, in both of the churches where she volunteers, she has been chosen to help out teachers in supervising children and setting up activities, as well as events, for child play and congregation meetings.

Maria is engaged in our community, driven by integrity, and dedicated to excellence. She strives to help fellow students by tutoring outside of school, sending them resources, and encouraging notes. She is kind and considerate of others, and many staff have witnessed her stopping in the hallway to pick up trash or to hold a door for others.
