The start of the school year is always filled with anticipation, hope, and the promise of new opportunities. It is a time for us to come together as a community to ensure that every student has a successful and enriching experience.
One of the most important factors in a child’s academic success is regular attendance. Every day of learning counts, and consistent attendance is crucial in helping students achieve their full potential. When students are in school regularly, they not only gain the academic knowledge they need but also develop important social and emotional skills that will serve them throughout their lives. I encourage you to make attendance a top priority this year. Let’s work together to ensure that every student is present, engaged, and ready to learn.
Another key to success is early literacy. The foundation for a lifelong love of reading begins at home, and I cannot emphasize enough the importance of reading with your children. Whether you’re reading to them or listening as they read to you, these moments foster strong literacy skills and create lasting memories. Reading opens the door to a world of knowledge, imagination, and creativity, so let’s make it a daily habit. Be sure to check out our 2nd annual RACE to Read challenge below where your daily reading can help us reach our goals! Encouraging a love for books will set our students on a path of lifelong learning and success.
This year, I also want to remind both parents and teachers of the importance of promoting positive student behaviors. Our schools are places where respect, kindness, and responsibility are valued and practiced every day. By encouraging positive behavior, we help create a safe and supportive environment where all students can thrive. Whether it’s celebrating achievements, modeling good character, or simply offering words of encouragement, your role in fostering positive behavior is vital to our collective success.
I am filled with optimism for the year ahead. Together, we can make this school year one of growth, achievement, and joy for every student.

Is your contact information accurate in myStudent? Now that we are a few weeks into the school year...
Is your contact information accurate in myStudent? Now that we are a few weeks into the school year, it’s essential to ensure your child's school has accurate contact information, as well as updated health and medical information.
Why accurate and up-to-date emergency cards are Important:
Custodial/Non-custodial Contacts: In the event of a health crisis or other unforeseen event at the school, accurate contact information is critical for the school to alert you. This also ensures appropriate friends/family members are designated as emergency contacts and/or pick-up for your child.
Address: Inaccurate residential or mailing addresses could delay important school information.
Health/Medical Information: In the event of a health crisis, your child's medical information is necessary. It also ensures the school is aware of specific health information related to your child.
Court Orders related to your child: Providing updated custody and/or parenting plan documents is helpful to schools when navigating difficult issues.
Keeping your emergency card updated is crucial for school staff to assist your child in case of illness, specific health needs, school crises, or designating emergency contacts. Completing the Parent Bill of Rights Consent form also ensures your child has access to or opts out of certain school events, curriculum, student surveys, college testing, military recruiting, and more. You can review the Parent Bill of Rights information before completing the form in the Parent Portal.
If you don’t have a Parent Portal account yet, now is the perfect time to create one!
For any questions regarding the Parent Portal, emergency cards, or the Parent Bill of Rights Consent Form, please visit the Pasco County Schools webpage and check out the parent resources section.

The new school year is underway, and with all the excitement of what is to come, we ask our parents to partner with us by understanding that safety and security is essential to having a positive learning environment. This is a great time for all school stakeholders to unite and understand the importance of our school safety and security protocols.
School safety plans and security protocols are put in place to provide direction and guidance to our staff and students if an emergency were to occur and outline clear requirements regarding school safety practices.
Our schools conduct a variety of different drills during the school year to familiarize everyone on campus with taking the appropriate actions based on the emergency presented. The emergency drills serve as an evaluation to administrators so they can make constant improvements to their specific emergency response plans.
This year, new school safety legislation was written under Florida Safe Schools and signed into law by Governor DeSantis, taking effect on August 1, 2024. The new laws enhance the safety protocols at our schools. You may have noticed some changes at schools regarding gates and doors being secured where in the past they were not. We hope you understand that safety is not always convenient, and the intent is to create the safest learning environment for our students and staff allowing for an enjoyable 2024-2025 school year.
