Elizabeth (Betty) Skoglund holds a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the State University of New York College at Oswego (1995) and a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Science from Mississippi State University (2013). For over two decades, she has been a dedicated science teacher at Land O’ Lakes High School in Pasco County Schools.
During her tenure, Betty has taught a wide range of life science courses, revitalized the AP Environmental Science program, initiated the Dual Enrollment Biology course, and spent the past five years teaching IB freshman biology. Her innovative teaching approaches and commitment to academic excellence have made her a cornerstone of the science department.
Beyond her classroom, Betty serves as a mentor teacher, fostering the development of new educators and promoting retention within the profession. She leads professional learning teams, driving collaboration to enhance curriculum design and student engagement. As a member of key committees, such as Equal Opportunity Schools and the School Leadership Team, she has championed initiatives to expand academic equity and improve schoolwide outcomes.
Betty is also deeply committed to professional growth, frequently presenting to Land O’ Lakes faculty on topics like growth mindset, effective student grouping, and strategies for fostering engagement. Her passion for education extends to club sponsorships, including guiding the Heartfelt Club and Kits to Heart, which encourage student involvement and community service. Betty Skoglund’s unwavering dedication to education continues to inspire both her students and colleagues, fostering a love for science and lifelong learning.
