Mr. Joel Quina is a proud product of Pasco County Schools and a graduate of River Ridge High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in K-12 Music Education on the Bright Futures Scholarship at the University of South Florida. He later earned a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from St. Leo University and recently completed the Preparing New Principals Program.

Mr. Quina is currently completing his 14th year of service in Pasco, spending 9 years as the head director of Pasco’s largest and most accomplished music program, the J.W. Mitchell High School Band. Under his leadership, the program enrollment doubled, numerous students were named to the All-State Band, and the program earned the prestigious Otto J. Kraushaar award multiple times.

He transitioned to administration in 2020 to serve as an Assistant Principal at J.W. Mitchell High School. Mr. Quina is most proud of his work with growing the skillsets of new teachers and helping struggling students find success in high school.

Mr. Quina lives in the Trinity area with his wife, Alyssa, a Middle School Assistant Principal in the district, and their 2 children, who will also attend Pasco Schools. Mr. Quina’s mother recently retired after 40 years of service to Pasco Schools, and his sister Julie Kral serves the district as a Lead Speech Pathologist. Mr. Quina hopes to continue to provide students with exceptional experiences and prepare them to reach their full potential after their time at JWMHS.
