Joshua Borders
Principal of the Year
Raymond B. Stewart Middle School Principal
Mr. Borders’ journey with Pasco County schools began in 1986 as a kindergarten student at Quail Hollow Elementary School. He continued his education at Thomas E. Weightman Middle and graduated from Zephyrhills High School in 1999. Mr. Borders earned his bachelor’s degree in social sciences education from the University of South Florida and returned to Pasco County in 2003 to begin his teaching career at Pasco Middle School. Over the next nine years, he served as a teacher, instructional leader, athletic coach, and instructional technology specialist.
After obtaining his master’s degree from St. Leo University, Mr. Borders accepted his first Assistant Principal position at River Ridge Middle School in 2012. He later moved back to the east side of the county, serving as an Assistant Principal at Centennial Middle School before becoming the Principal at Raymond B. Stewart Middle School. Through strategic vision and compassionate leadership, he has significantly increased student proficiencies and learning gains across all subjects and grade levels at Raymond B. Stewart Middle School, resulting in a C school grade and removal from the state’s differentiated accountability status. Mr. Borders was recently awarded a Proclamation from the City of Zephyrhills and named the 2020 Assistant Principal of the Year for Pasco County Schools. His work has also contributed to the development of new leaders through internships and mentoring other school-based administrators.
At the core of Mr. Borders’ success is the support he receives from his amazing wife of 21 years, Jenny Borders, and their four children: Susannah, Hutson, Jackson, and Emma. Mr. Borders is honored to have served the Pasco County community for 21 years, cherishing the relationships he has built with parents, community members, staff, and, most importantly, students.
