Matthew Fox
Non-Instructional Non-Bargaining Employee of the Year
Mary Giella Elementary School School Safety Guard
Matthew Fox began his journey with Pasco County Schools in 2006, shortly after graduating high school. At the time, the maintenance department was in the early stages of establishing a warehouse to store essential supplies for schools. This endeavor required setting up shelving, pallet racks, and meticulously inventorying thousands of items to ensure everything fit within the warehouse space.
After four years in maintenance, Matt transitioned to the district warehouse, where he played a crucial role in supplying schools with everything from classroom materials to janitorial supplies. Despite his growing responsibilities, Matt always harbored a desire to pursue a career in law enforcement. Eventually, he left the district to follow that dream.
Years later, Matt found himself missing the excellent benefits and the supportive, family-like work environment of Pasco County Schools. In 2017, he returned to the warehouse, where he quickly familiarized himself with the operations of the couriers. Matt took charge of the mailroom for seven years, building connections and striving to be as helpful as possible in every situation.
Seeking new challenges, Matt shifted gears, moving into maintenance, where he worked in site development for about a year. Eventually, an opportunity arose for him to work as a School Safety Guardian (SSG) at an elementary school. Matt felt this role was his true calling—creating a safe and enjoyable environment for students to learn and grow. As one of the first people students see each morning, Matt greets them with high fives and fist bumps, setting a positive tone for the day.
Matt is deeply grateful for the opportunity to make a difference at Dr. Mary Giella Elementary School, and the staff are equally thrilled to have him on board. His dedication and enthusiasm have made him an invaluable part of the school community.
