Superintendent Dr. John Legg

Dr. John Legg brings over two decades of experience in education, leadership, and community service to his role as Superintendent of Pasco County Schools. A lifelong Pasco County resident, Dr. Legg grew up in Hudson. Dr. Legg is a proud graduate of Pasco-Hernando State College before earning his Master’s in Public Administration and Doctorate in Education Innovation from the University of South Florida.

Dr. Legg began his career as a classroom teacher, gaining first-hand insights into the challenges and opportunities within public education. In 2000, he co-founded Dayspring Academy to bring innovative educational options to Pasco County. Under his leadership, Dayspring became one of the highest-performing schools in the area, known for fostering academic excellence and creativity.

Beyond his work in schools, Dr. Legg served in the Florida House of Representatives and Senate, where he chaired the K-12 Education Committee in both chambers. His legislative accomplishments reflect a commitment to policies prioritizing students, empowering teachers, and strengthening educational outcomes.

As Superintendent, Dr. Legg’s vision centers on student success as the guiding principle for every decision. He is committed to academic excellence, empowering parents and families, encouraging innovation, and building strong community partnerships. Dr. Legg believes collaboration with educators, families, and local leaders is key to ensuring all students in Pasco County are prepared to thrive in school and beyond.

Dr. Legg is married to Dr. Suzanne Legg. They have five children and four grandchildren.
