JOB GOAL

Responsible for the supervision of Distribution Services warehouse personnel and for the coordination of day-to-day operation of the distribution, mail, and resource recovery and recycling centers. This includes assigning tasks, developing routes and schedules, maintaining accurate departmental records, and driving designated routes as needed to pick up and deliver interdepartmental mail, equipment, and supplies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of those in this position.
  1. Assist with the development of routes and schedules for distribution services deliveries.
  2. Coordinate shipments following appropriate timelines to ensure that they are delivered and picked up on time.
  3. Supervise the preparation of shipping documentation, packing lists, and invoices.
  4. Supervise, train, direct, evaluate, and assign work to distribution services/warehouse staff.
  5. Assist in making recommendations for employment and assignment of personnel according to department needs.
  6. Coordinate new inventory, stock analysis, and inventory rotation.
  7. Maintain and prepare inventories of materials and equipment.
  8. Order supplies as needed and submit appropriate requests for approval.
  9. Manage the receipt, storage, and distribution of a large variety of supplies, materials, and equipment to support efficient operations of schools and District departments, including any associated paperwork.
  10. Assist with the department’s strategic planning by contributing data related to overhead costs, productivity, and system improvements.
  11. Maintain daily records regarding productivity and accountability for department.
  12. Maintain security and confidentiality related to all couriered materials and documents.
  13. Assist in budgeting for salaries, supplies, and equipment; maintain budget and cost accounting records.
  14. Provide data, reports, and other documentation to appropriate staff as needed; maintain confidentiality as required.
  15. Supervise the movement of records from school and department sites to warehouse storage and coordinate efforts with departments regarding storage and/or destruction.
  16. Deliver required supplies to schools and shelters during emergency situations or inclement weather.
  17. Respond to inquiries or concerns in a timely manner.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • General geographic knowledge of the county

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner and within established timeframes

  • Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and web-based technologies and platforms
  • All hires must pass pre-employment drug screening according to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employees Testing Act (OTETA)
  • Must submit to and pass an initial drug test and subsequent random drug tests in accordance with the requirements of Florida Statute Section 112.0455

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or Vocational Degree from an accredited institution
  • Seven years’ experience in delivery or warehouse operations
  • OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid and current Florida driver license
  • Must maintain a driving record that meets the standards of the District Safe Driver II Plan. Driver license must be maintained as a condition of continued employment
  • Valid and current Florida Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree from an accredited institution in the field of Logistics Management, or related field
  • Ten years’ experience in delivery or warehouse operation
  • Extensive knowledge of warehousing and distribution systems

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Direct supervision of assigned personnel. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; training employees; evaluating performance; and interviewing, testing, hiring, and assignment of personnel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. 

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT

  • Distribution services/warehouse materials including boxes, lifts, etc.
  • General office equipment, including personal computers, fax machines, copiers, telephones, etc. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
