JOB GOAL

This employee is responsible for assisting the physical therapist.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of those in this position.
  1. Providing physical therapy to students under the direction of the physical therapist.
  2. Assisting with evaluations and re-evaluations under the supervision of the physical therapist.
  3. Assisting with maintenance of medical, staffing and evaluation records.
  4. Assisting with the design and construction of adaptive equipment.
  5. Contacting physicians, agencies, and other persons to obtain information as directed by the therapist.
  6. Preparing materials for the therapist.
  7. Assisting with the collection of materials and equipment used in providing therapy.
  8. Assisting in maintaining the equipment used in the therapy lab.
  9. Assisting the therapist with clerical duties and data collection.
  10. Assisting students with performance of daily activities.
  11. Performing other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

  • Licensed as a physical therapy assistant in Florida by the Board of Medical Examiners.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in a like position.
  • Expertise in pediatric therapy. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • None

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the District.

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
