Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

NOTICE UNDER THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a federal civil rights law designated to prevent discrimination and enable individuals with disabilities to participate fully in all aspects of society

It is the policy of the District School Board of Pasco County, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), to guarantee that qualified individuals with disabilities have the same opportunities and are not discriminated against in regard to job application procedures, hiring, advancement, discharge, compensation, job training, or other terms, conditions, or privileges of employment. The District will provide reasonable accommodation(s) to a qualified individual, when necessary, to enable the individual to perform the essential functions of their job position or during the application process, if the accommodation does not impose an undue hardship on the operation of the District’s business.

Employees seeking accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) are encouraged to notify their immediate supervisor as soon as they can about the need for an accommodation, or they may contact the Civil Rights Compliance (CRC) Manager directly. Communicating your needs clearly and promptly sets the groundwork for a productive dialogue.  Once an employee requests a reasonable accommodation, the District will work with the employee to determine the best course of action and the reasonable accommodations that may be provided.

Supervisory employees who believe an employee may need an accommodation under the ADA must contact the Civil Rights Compliance (CRC) Manager, who will assist in determining the employee’s limitations and any resulting impact on their ability to perform essential duties. The CRC manager will engage in the interactive process with the employee and site supervisor to identify and recommend reasonable accommodations that may be provided.

Please note: The District may require medical documentation to determine if an employee or applicant has an impairment that substantially limits a major life activity. If additional information is requested, you may be required to complete and sign an Authorization for the Release of Medical Information. Failure to provide supporting medical information to the District may result in a denial of your request for reasonable accommodation.

Reasonable accommodations are available for persons with disabilities to complete the application and/or interview process. Applicants/individuals with disabilities requesting accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) may contact the Civil Rights Compliance Manager at 813-794-2679 or email sblue@pasco.k12.fl.us for assistance.
