New Teacher Programs

Welcome to Pasco County Schools!

Our New Teacher Program is designed to provide immediate support and high-quality professional learning, setting you up for a successful school year.

All new Pasco teachers will participate in a comprehensive four-day orientation to ensure a smooth transition into your schools:

  • Day 1: You’ll meet with representatives from Retirement/Employee Benefits, Employee Relations, and Payroll to get acquainted with essential resources. We’ll also help you set up your email and complete your Beginning‑of‑Year (BOY) course. These sessions are designed to help you navigate the benefits and services available to you.
  • Day 2: In the morning, you’ll dive into classroom management strategies, inclusion practices, and Tier 1 and Tier 2 behavioral supports. In the afternoon, you’ll meet with a representative from Integrated Educational Technology Support to explore tools within the Microsoft Suite. You’ll also meet with representatives from Certification and Teacher Evaluation to help you navigate the requirements for teaching in Pasco County
  • Day 3: You’ll engage in Pasco County’s Youth Mental Health and First Aid training to ensure you are properly trained before entering the classroom.
  • Day 4: You’ll experience an in-depth school-site orientation and participate in content-specific training tailored to your subject area, ensuring you're prepared for your students and what’s required at your school.

Mentor Supports:

In the first year of teaching in Pasco County, whether you are new to teaching or not, a specially trained mentor will help you transition into Pasco County. The mentor can support the navigation of school campuses, systems, platforms, planning, curricular resources, and much more! Mentors will provide new teachers with opportunities for observations as well!

The world of education is full of acronyms (IEP, ESE, ATP, PLC, and DOE) just to name a few. There are hundreds of them. To ensure you are not lost in the acronym spiral, we have included an Acronym List for you to reference.

Technology Corner

Our technology group (AKA OTIS, pronounced oat-is) has put together a Survival Guide for new teachers. It includes clickable resources on how to take attendance, make assignments, do grades, get technology help, and how to access Office 365 including your email etc.

Classroom Resources

This list of Classroom Resources contains resources for developing classroom routines and procedures such as organization of space, time and instruction, student engagement, and managing individual and class behaviors.
